erm...just in case not aware...albertson's is closed already. but you might consider going to Von's cause they have quite similar discounts for drinks ther. ~Des

IF u r going to jasmine express/albertsons/vons, i would like to have a 3 dish combo with fried rice/orange juice. You can also buy chicken (thigh or leg or both) if it is cheap (about half a dozen) and if you do buy it, buy about 4/5 large or 5/6 small potatos also (we can just cook the A1 curry sometime next week). Another thing is that we still have frozen jiao zi and we can have them for dinner this weekend if you want. Lastly, for those who are still not feeling well, rest well this weekend!

we spent a total of $63 at the lunar15th gathering last week.
Breakdown: Riceballs-$21 IceCream-$34 FermRice-$8

which means we still have $187 from last year's money left. when's the best time for u guys this quarter to meet? if we can agree on a few dates we can ask the grad students etc. meet for either dimsum lunch or nice dinner somewhere.

I was planning to cook on Monday but xy chope my spot... i'll still cook on Monday but we'll only eat it on Tuesday:

I'm not sure who will cook on Wednesday but if there's leftover curry chicken (I'm planning to cook more), we can eat them on Wednesday also plus some vegetable. If not, I can cook again.

Anyway just want to thank sangyu for bowling tonight, she did really well with lots of strike!!! Of course we also have Desmond, who got strikes after strikes in the last game to get a high final score to help the team "thrashed" our opponent!!! =P

Groceries Shopping

Do we need to do groceries shopping this weekend? If we do, shall we go on Saturday as I thought we would need to buy something for the tangyuen gathering?

reminder: there is $250 of a*star funds in cash with me for us to spend.
for those with shorter memories than me, last year we went for a year-end graduation dinner at the french restaurant where we paid for our food, but i used the receipt and claimed anyway. so think of a way to spend this ya? I'm wondering if Desmond want to use part of this money to buy food for this Sat's Lunar15th gathering?

also, lets not forget abt this year's claims. $25 per scholar twice a year. and there's 8 in all. that's $400 in total! tots? ~ fm

are there only 8 people? aren't there 6 undergrad and 3 graduate students (kok lim, eetsin, and andrea)? Anyway I'm really interested in dim sum/ sushi buffet/ jasmine... =P ... but shd ask the graduate students lar...

Remote Printing to ACS Printers from Laptop

this gem is recessed behind the monotonous facade of acs website. didnt manage to find a link anywhere else. its quite useful, esp if u bring ur laptop to sch. i doubt ull wanna print stuff frm home. u wont know what happened to them by the time u get to sch. :p

btw, i tried it and it works. takes a while though. i printed with my trusty ibm in cafe roma and walked up to SunGodLounge, and had to wait for 3mins more before it came out. but maybe it was a busy print day.

correction: you cannot print frm home. laptop must be on UCSD network to print.

Sunday February 12th

I know this is early, but i'm thinking since its the 15th of the lunar month, maybe we can have a small gathering with everyone (outside the usual group). maybe have tangyuen and other stuff we usually eat that night.

just want to pitch the idea to you guys, considering that you guys form the bulk, and a go/no-go depends on you guys. the last time i thought of a gathering, no one showed up. so yeah...

do let me know what you think.

i think thats a cool idea. we can get all our friends and friends of friends to come. although frankly i prefer friday, or even saturday. sunday is too close and sch and last minute stuff for comfort. :p - fm

i like the idea too and i agree with fm that it'll be better to be on friday or saturday evening as some of us have finals early next week and don't forget we have bowling on sunday night too. =)
